Shuffle Mode Prefer Higher Rated Songs
Shuffle Mode Prefer Higher Rated Songs
Is like to see an option for shuffle mode to prefer higher rated songs.
Re: Shuffle Mode Prefer Higher Rated Songs
I'll take that as a feature request : currently the shuffle mode distributes evenly, you propose to make the shuffle mode customizable with regard to the distribution function, this function could then depend on some criteria, e.g. rating
Re: Shuffle Mode Prefer Higher Rated Songs
On second thoughts : this might be difficult to realize. What you have in mind seems to be that your favourite songs should play more often ? The shuffle doesn't create a new set, where it could then add the same favourite tracks more often than other tracks. It just randomizes the order in which the tracks are played.
Re: Shuffle Mode Prefer Higher Rated Songs
So I think what you really want is not a changed shuffle mode, but a completely new mode "Random". That would mean : don't change the order of a playlist as in shuffle mode, but ignore it altogether ! Instead : after the current track finishes, don't play the next one, but randomly choose a new one from the complete track list including the songs already played. Then this random choosing could take things like rating into account to give certain tracks a higher probability of getting chosen. As a consequence this would mean that the track list would play forever, until you manually choose another one. And it would be possible that the same song would be played multiple times in a row.
Re: Shuffle Mode Prefer Higher Rated Songs
This newly to be created "Random" mode could either be implemented as a new "Playback Mode", as it would affect the way the track list is ended ( not at all ) and the way the next track is chosen ( ramdomly ). Or it could be implemented as another shuffle mode. I suggest to take the first approach, then only the list of playback modes would have to be extended, and the shuffle mode would stay just the on/off switch that it currently is.
