Reducing file size/high file bit-rate depth?

Post by SlowX » Mon Sep 17, 2012 11:11 am

Is there a way to reduce the file size of high bit-rate files w/ Neutron, like the Resampling feature?
iTunes has a great feature like this or iPhones/Pods etc., and then there was a plug-in called iTuneMyWalkman (on the Mac) that did this for Android devices. But w/ the change to MTP in Ice Cream Sandwich, it no longer works.

Is Neutron my answer?

Thanks!

Well, Neutron has own quality re-sampling code and its audio core supports conversion to:

- MP3
- OGG
- FLAC
- SPEEX

with additional actions like: changing of bit-depth, resampling to any desired sampling rate, conversion to above mentioned formats.

Currently not, because this functionality has to be exposed to Neutron UI.

To my view it worth converting if source file is in lossless format: FLAC, APE, ALAC, WMA Lossless, ...

May be it worth putting such functionality into to-do list for further development.
