Streaming

Post by Asaf23 » Thu Nov 10, 2011 4:50 pm

In streaming.xml there are "URL Names" and actual URLs. In Streaming Group "URL Names" are displaying and it's OK, but when some radio is playing the player and also the widget are displaying real URL which is confusing and meaningless

Thank you very much for this notice! I will make correction for next coming release. Title will display URL name. In the future will try to obtain metadata from the stream and will display it as for normal music files, in case there is metadata streamed as well.

Yes, exactly this feature is planned. It will allow streaming of any supported audio files by Internet including local network.

Hi there...new user here. I just purchased this fantastic player for my Blackberry Playbook and I really love it and think it's a superior audio player. Just wondering if there has been any development on local network streaming? This would be huge foe me as my Playbook only has about 8gb of room on it for me to put music. I have about 100gb on my network that I would love to access through Neutron.

Thanks!

Currently accesing network drive is solved by creating share but for Playbook this is not possible. It is also in dev. plans to develop small server app which would share music files to Neutron if host OS is Windows, OSX, Linux. Would such server app be possible solution for you?

If I understand you correctly then I think this would be perfect. So I would have to download a small server file and run it in the background and then it in turn will share my network drives with Neutron?? I am running Windows Vista.

Thanks

Yes, like you said. Background process which would communicate with Neutron and share directories to it which you specify in its setup.

As usual there are no definite terms for feature implementation because there are current tasks to do but it will be done soon I hope as on Android this problem is solved simply by creating share to network location and thus feature wasn't urgent but for platforms without such possibility (PlayBook for example) the priority has changed.
