USB DAC Device Selection

Post by Wolf » Tue Apr 14, 2020 1:12 pm

So, I'm not sure where to put this. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I have a wireless 2.4ghz headset that I would like to use with Neutron. The dongle exposes two different audio devices in Windows. One 1ch headset and one 2ch headphone output. By default it uses the 1ch output and I don't see any way to manually select the device.

Should I post the logs for the device in the DAC debug thread or is there something I'm missing in the settings? The actual output of NMP is working fine it's just a quirk of this device.

I guess it would be the same as hooking up two different DAC devices with a hub, there's no way to manually select which you want to use.

Edit: I emailed the debugging logs

Make sure you have Settings > Audio Hardware > Exclusive Access enabled

Have a look at Settings > Audio Hardware > Channels - does it show alternative configurations ?

Without special hardware there is nothing to choose from, but that might be different with the headset active ?

There is no option for Exclusive access, is it the same as the 'Direct USB access' option? It is already on and there is no impact on any of the settings. Only Stereo L R is listed unless the generic driver is on.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Fold on Android 10 if this is some device dependent thing.

Sorry, you wrote "The dongle exposes two different audio devices in Windows." and so I thought you were using Neutron on Windows, where there is an Exclusive Access Option.

And where exactly is the problem ? If the windows driver shows two access points, that is supposed to mean what for android ?

There's a 'Chat' and 'Audio' device that works independently of each other. NMP attaches to the 'Chat' one presumably because that's the first one that enumerates when the USB is inserted. What it means for Android I am not sure, would it have to be hard coded into the app? The only difference would be the hardware id's suffix, that's why I think a selection menu would be logical here
