[FIXED] Blackberry Playbook: Neutron stopped working

Post by Progweed » Sat Sep 01, 2012 4:18 pm

I don't know what caused this, but Neutron stopped working today. The logo appears and stays on screen, then after several seconds the app closes itself.

Of course I already uninstalled and reinstalled it several times and rebooted the device, but to no avail. While doing so I noticed something strange: After long pressing the application icon Neutron is still being marked as installed in Blackberry AppWorld! I have to press delete there to remove it completely.

Still, even after several attempts, I'm unable to start Neutron (running Blackberry OS 2.1.0.840). :(

Just bought the player. Have the same problem. Cannot even start it. The same BB Playbook OS version. Money back or any solution-help:?:

Same problem : was working fine, but now only the logo appears before the app crashes. Tried uninstalling, rebooting the Playbook and reinstalling, but the problem persists.
I'm running OS 2.0.1.358.

That's a really strange behaviour, almost as if the app expired by the beginning of September. I also noticed that it was pulled from AppWorld today - hopefully only until a fixed version is out!

Hi Guys!

First of all, let me deeply appologize for this misterious, strange problem with Neutron not starting up.

After I collected more information it looks like certificate with which Neutron package was signed is expired, like dev. certificate. I am sure 100% that there wasn't mistake from Neutron side and it looks like RIM dev. tools signed Neutron with debug certificate by mistake, also package passed through certification by RIM.

Anyway I will be able to repackage Neutron tommorow and it will become available on Wednesday.

App was removed from sales just to avoid new users facing this problem immediately after the purchase. It is only temp. measure.

Best regards,
Dmitry.

There is temporary workaround to make Neutron package working:
- change the date of device to some past, like 4 July
- start Neutron and it shall work

There is dev. thread opened for this case on RIM dev. forum too:

I submitted new version for RIM review/certification. I hope the review will happen within some 12 hours and Neutron will re-appear in App World and be available as update for users who purchased it already. I tested behavior by changing months to the future and it seems that that strange bug/behavior can not be repeated and will go away forever.
