I have a oroblem with Equalizer not working. They can't be changed and stay red.
None of the EQ presents are locked. I have "normalizer" not on.
I am using build 2.03.2-ARM64 (newest version on Google Play) on Android 8.0.0 (Samsung Galaxy S7).
I have tried stopping the background progress, clearing cache and reinstalling. I did these steps again after turning off my device, in the same order.

Did I miss anything?

Only normalization or preset active option Lock can lock EQ tunning. Try denormalize by long Pressing Albums -> [- EQ Preset] and the same for Folders.

With this method, I toggled it on and off.

It worked, thanks. It got unstuck.

This means that EQ is always locked for albums that are normalized, and that normalization cannot be combined with additional EQ tweeking?

Yes, that's correct.
The point of normalization is to get the maximum possible signal-noise-ratio for a given audio file and equalizer setting.
The headroom below the maximum signal level is used. Changing the equalizer without headroom might result in clipping.
