I tag all my FLAC, M4A and MP3 files in Windows using foobar2000. For classical music, I set:
<Artist Name> = composer, e.g. Haydn, Joseph
<Album Title> = name of the piece of music, e.g. Trumpet Concerto in E-flat Major
<Track Title> = name of the movement, e.g. Allegro
<Track Number> = order of the movement, e.g. 1
<Performer> = name of the performing soloist and orchestra
I store the files on a Micro SD card and play the files on my Sony Z3 phone using Neutron 1.86.1. If the file is M4A or MP3 then Neutron's playlist shows:
<Playlist index> - <Track Title>
<Album Title> (Disc <Disc Number>)
<Artist Name>
whereas FLAC files in the playlist show as:
<Playlist index> - <Track Title>
<Album Title> (Disc <Disc Number>)
<Performer>
This makes sorting by Artist, Year, Album a bit useless since it's sorting by a mix of Artist and Performer. In older versions of Neutron (can't remember how old), FLAC files would show <Artist Name> instead of <Performer>. Is there any workaround apart from re-tagging all my FLAC files?
