[FIXED] Player hangs up while playing huge FLAC-file

Hi,

it's an odd problem: I have a huge FLAC-file (39:52 min, 238MB). While playing it, it brings down neutron at 6:56 everytime I hear it. Afterwards the player doesn't react on touches etc. Ending it by tapping the exit cross when minimized the Window on my BlackBerry Playbook (latest OS-Version) takes a while till I can reopen the player. When I want to continue playing from the 6:56 nothing happens - meaning: neutron hangs up again. After restarting once again and scrolling a bit further music is back on. Looking at the File with Audacity ... nothing special is to be seen. VLC plays it on desktop, Clementine as well. I think the problem occured after the last update.
Other FLAC-files are ok.

If there are questions, please be paitent - I don't know how fast I can answer.

p.s. I just found out that there is a second "hot spot" in the same file at 10:17. It stops playing for a few seconds.

I have not yet experienced such problem and 238MB FLAC is not that huge as it could be. There can be some issues inside the data of the file which Neutron's FLAC decoder (vanilla) is not able to surpass and is getting into a dead loop. If possible it would be great to have your file and test it in dev. environment. I will e-mail to you the details of FTP server for uploading if you do not mind.

Last update could not be a reason as audio/decoder core did not have any modifications.

The stream of the file has internal errors but Neutron is not exiting in my case, after synchronization it continues to play further. May be try recoding with official FLAC tools?

During this resync operation FLAC decoder was logging actions actively (above strings) and it could cause crash inside OS logging code that could be the reason of Neutron's crash. I will disable it and let's see if it does not crash on your device anymore.

After some modifications in FLAC's code the problem will be solved I believe. Let's see how it goes after an update, recoding is not required.

Did I mentioned, that I encoded the file with Audacity 2.0.3?
I think I will recode the file anyway because I chose only 16 bit - I want it better bigger brighter. So I will use 24bit - best ...

It is better to use stock FLAC UI to re-encode (http://flac.sourceforge.net/download.html) to FALC but the drawback is that source file must be WAV. Anyway just released 1.73 must not crash.

Thanks a lot. After updateing the file is played without error.
The encoding comes from Audacitty because I started to digitalize my MC's from the last 30 years - it's time saving to encode directly from the without saving a .wav-file. Anyway.
