Cayin N511S
On my Cayin N511S I have a few quastions:
I am playing a 24/96 track - while the track plays it is displaying 32/96. Is that normal?
Audio Hardware Tab - I have selected "follow source Frequency". When looking at "Frequency" below it says 44100. Does my selection of "follow source frequency" override that?
I am selecting "64 Bit Processing" - under Audio Harware tab it shows Bits 64 (out 32in). is there advatage to using 64 bits? looks like the Cayin in 32 bits if I am reading this properly.
Any optimal settings suggestions I could be using for the Cayin N511s?
Thanks

Do you have enabled Settings > Audio Hardware > 32-bit Output ?jazzbass12 wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2019 6:28 pmI am playing a 24/96 track - while the track plays it is displaying 32/96. Is that normal?
When you open the frequency option all available frequencies are shown. As I understand it, follow source frequency should choose the sampling rate of the track, if it exists in this list. So if you play an 96 kHz track and have follow source frequency enabled I would guess that 96 kHz isn't available. Or is it ? Can you manually choose it ?jazzbass12 wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2019 6:28 pmAudio Hardware Tab - I have selected "follow source Frequency". When looking at "Frequency" below it says 44100. I rather doubt that anyone could hear a difference.jazzbass12 wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2019 6:28 pmI am selecting "64 Bit Processing" - under Audio Harware tab it shows Bits 64 (out 32in). is there advatage to using 64 bits? looks like the Cayin in 32 bits if I am reading this properly.

Thanks :

I don’t have 32-bit option under Settings>Audio Harware> 32 bit output
Just odd because I have 64 bit selected yet it shows 32. Must be device limitation.

That makes sense..I chose Follow Source and it is.

If you have chosen 64 bit they should be shown. That is, If you look at the right places.jazzbass12 wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2019 8:44 pmJust odd because I have 64 bit selected yet it shows 32. Must be device limitation.
There could be other reasons for that. E.g. if you use bluetooth headphones with SBC.
There are three ways to see frequency and bit-depth :
one at the top of the audio hardware and two below the scrollbar on the playing now screen.
Could you provide screenshots ?
This here shows the input : And that shows the output : You switch between them with the 3-dot-button on the right side of the song display

Everybody should have that checkbox "32-bit Output (IEEE 754), below "Generic Driver" and above "Low Latency".jazzbass12 wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2019 8:44 pmI don’t have 32-bit option under Settings>Audio Harware> 32 bit output
It's just a checkbox, you can select it or not select it, there's no further contents.

Re: Cayin N511S
Thanks Again,
Here is screen of my Audio Harware...Also when I scroll thru it, there are no setings for generic driver or 32 bit. It looks like it is in 64 but the device internal is 32. I am wondering if this was tweaked for my Cayin device. Ive looked everywhere.
When I click on the 3 dots of play view it toggles between the in and out bit rate on the play screen, not a seperate box.

On most android devices you've got a choice between "audiotrack" and "opensl", the first is the "generic" one.jazzbass12 wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2019 9:33 pmHere is screen of my Audio Harware...Also when I scroll thru it, there are no setings for generic driver or 32 bit.
Here it says it uses "smartaudio" driver. That's the way it is implemented on your device.
Probably a good choice
The screenshots tell us :jazzbass12 wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2019 9:33 pmIt looks like it is in 64 but the device internal is 32.
- you have enabled 64 bit
- you play a file in losless flac format withe a sampling rate of 96 kHz and a bit-depth of 24 bit
- neutron delivers a sampling rate of 96 kHz and a bit depth of 32 bit to the DAC
The "highly accurate 64-bit processing" is used inside neutron when the sound is processed.
It has to be reduced to 24 or 32 bit when the data are transferred to the DAC.
That's normal, doesn't work otherwise.
By the way : that's the reason that you use "dithering", to mitigate some unwelcome consequences of this necessary transformation.
No need to worry, it couldn't look better.jazzbass12 wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2019 9:33 pmI am wondering if this was tweaked for my Cayin device. Ive looked everywhere.
As far as I can tell, you are successfully reproducing high-resolution-audio.
Yes, that's the way it's supposed to work.jazzbass12 wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2019 9:33 pmWhen I click on the 3 dots of play view it toggles between the in and out bit rate on the play screen, not a seperate box.
