Compressor window setting

Post by matthamilton72 » Thu Dec 13, 2018 12:13 am

Can someone explain what the “window” setting on the compressor does exactly?

You mean the last slider "Window (RMS), Time (msec)" below "Look-Ahead, Time (msec)" ?

I assume that "RMS" stands for "root mean square", and the "window" is the size of the time frame where the average volume is calculated and which is "look-ahead" in the future

This is a very legit question, and I would like to know the true usages and that these 3 if these 3 functions work together or not. Does any developer explain these functions working together. I understand someone answered with ASSUME, however, no detailed information.

These are 3 predefined presets, you choose one of them and then can change the settings manually.
