Keeps running in the background

Hi, i'm using Neutron 2.06.1 on a Moto G5+ running Android 8.1.0
after noticing that my battery is draining faster than usual i also noticed that Neutron seems to always be running - it is not a big drain (10% after 18hrs) but it highlights that Neutron is always running.
In the past i would play music at night, swipe to close the app, then open Neutron again the following day. The app would only seem to be running for the time i was using it and my App Info would tell me that Neutron had been running for a few hours and had used a 3% of the battery.
Now, if i play music at night, swipe to close the app and re-open the next day the App Info tells me that Neutron has been "in active use" for 18hrs and has used 10% of the battery.
I don't want to have to force stop the app each time i have finished using it - BUT, how else to i stop it being in "active use" when i'm not actively using it?

Any help is appreciated. Otherwise, i've been very happy with Neutron.
