gradual reverse attenuation when resuming

I like how the sound gradually attenuates to a mute when pausing, but I think the reverse should occur upon resuming play too. Or, at least make this a user selectable option. This could really help protect speakers and headphones from damage. Plus, it's just a more pleasant listening experience in my opinion. I have a Kenwood car stereo that does this and it's really nice.
