Hi, what about proposing binaural effect to simulate 5.1 on simple headphones ?
I tested it on Windows with foobar2000 and Dolby headphone dll. It works amazingly great even if it reduces sampling to 48khz.
Listening to multichannel music in headphones is awesome and must work easily on Android, such effects were even embedded in some DVD player.

I can give you the dll if you're interested in experimenting.
