Neutron can not load M3U playlist

Post by cass103 » Fri Jan 23, 2015 12:49 am

After updating latest Neutron, I synced my itunes playlist(iSyncr). But Neutron music player can not read playlist.

This problem did not happen before.

This is M3U playlist that made from isyncr
(audio file path : /storage/extSDCard/Syncr/Radiohead/in Rainbows/)
Filename : 0 Radiohead.m3u (Synced From itunes playlist)
==========================================
#EXTM3U
/Radiohead/In Rainbows/01. 15 Step.m4a
/Radiohead/In Rainbows/02. Bodysnatchers.m4a
/Radiohead/In Rainbows/03. Nude.m4a
/Radiohead/In Rainbows/04. Weird Fishes-Arpeggi.m4a
/Radiohead/In Rainbows/05. All I Need.m4a
/Radiohead/In Rainbows/06. Faust Arp.m4a

Same here! Synced my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (Android 4.4.2) and Neutron Music Player
shows the same as above. Playlists shows correctly in Google Play Music. Worked perfectly
with Neutron before last Update....

I wrote a email to iSyncr Support (jrtstudio.com):
I'm using iSyncr (PC) and Neutron Player to sync and play my music on my Samsung Note 3 (Android 4.4.2)
It works great but now i have a big problem: all my playlists doesn't work anymore with Neutron Player:
Neutron can't find the music-files in the playlist. But it works with other players (WinAmp, Google Music ...).
I don't know, which last update (iSyncr or Neutron) causes the problem, but I found out that it's a problem
with the relativ paths in the .m3u-file:

- when I have a .m3u-file, that looks like this (the type that iSyncr creates now)

#EXTM3U
/Kryder/Fiji - Single/01 Fiji.mp3
/Otto Knows/Parachute - Single/02 Parachute (Extended).mp3
/MOGUAI/Aciiid - Single/01 Aciiid.mp3

and it resides in the /storage/extSdCard/iTunes/ folder, Neutron won't see the music-files.
But when I have a .m3u-file that looks like this:

#EXTM3U
/storage/extSdCard/iTunes/Kryder/Fiji - Single/01 Fiji.mp3
/storage/extSdCard/iTunes/Otto Knows/Parachute - Single/02 Parachute (Extended).mp3
/storage/extSdCard/iTunes/MOGUAI/Aciiid - Single/01 Aciiid.mp3

Neutron will see the music-files and everything is OK.

Can you please built in a function, that uses the absolut path to the music-file?
By now I can't use Neutron any longer, because not one playlist works anymore.

Thanks,
Markus
I got this answer:
Hi Markus,

We've determined this issue with playlists to be with Neutron Player's support of playlist file (m3u) We're not able to allow for absolute paths without a playlist re-writing a lot of code. We recommend that you reach out to Neutron Player to support relative paths.

Cheers!

Problem was, that Neutron can't find the music-files in the playlist. But you can see the Playlist.
Your problem is different if you can't see the playlists at all.
Neutron don't use the Android playlists, instead building it's own ones out of the Android playlists.

What i would do:

- check in another app if the playlists still shows up ("Google Play Music")
- check if neutron knows where your music files reside ("sources") and press update/refresh (my Neutron is German, so I don't know the exact english words)
- update your playlists in neutron by pressing the "search" button beside "playlists"

Thanks for responding Markus. In Poweramp player playlists appear no problem. I've rescanned/reloaded music content in Neutron multiple times and hit the scan button next to Playlists a number of times as well but nothing is working for me. Only thing different in my setup is that I installed micro sd card in my HTC One M8 and have moved content managed by Syncr over to it. I've even tried uninstalling Neutron, but that didn't help either. I love the Neutron player, but now it is effectively useless for me as you can imagine.

Are these discussions moderated by tech support of Neutron or do I have to contact them directly somehow? I'd really appreciate some support here.

thanks again

Hello,
The M3U file offers the index entries for each music, but it’s not a real audio file.
All M3U files have similarities, but also differences. The number following the “#EXTINF” section is the audio length in seconds. If the audio is being streamed online and no length is set, then you will see -1 here as the pictures shows. And the M3U URL like “http://ip.fannan.se:8000/live/332/332/7934.ts” is the relative path of M3U file.

How to play M3U playlist:
1) M3U's and M3U8's do not behave properly (as they do in the Fuze, on your computer or in say, a PSP) in the Fuze+
2) Rather than flat out not working they act all bizarre, and do show up (so I assume m3u's are intended to work on the Fuze+)
3) M3U8 Files show a . at the end of the name, probably due to using a trim function to display rather than delimiters.
