Dropouts after May update

Post by dhartn57 » Wed Jun 11, 2014 10:59 am

I have been using Neutron for perhaps a year or so. I use the Neon version of Neutron on a Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 to play my music. I use a Seagate Wireless Plus to connect to the tablet and play the music. This has worked perfectly up till the update from May of this year. Now I get dropouts when playing. I get perhaps 2 -3 dropouts per song, sometimes more and sometimes less. Can one of the new network settings be changed to fix this problem? Is there a problem in the update that may be causing this? Thanks.

I'm still having this problem. I tried uninstalling the NEON version and installed the Google Play version. The problem that sent me to the NEON version no longer occurs but the dropouts still do. Is there any way I can get hold of the NEON version from before the May update?

May be try checking Neutron's settings -> Audio Hardware section. If you do not have Generic Driver active, activate it. And Also activate Wake Lock CPU. Then confirm modifications.

Did it allow to fix the issue?

Thanks for the response. I checked these two settings and the light was lit next to them. This means they were already turned on doesn't it? Should I try turning these settings off?

You could try switching off Generic Driver (it will activate OpenSL ES driver) and see if anything gets improved. Also please check that HW Latency is at around 250 ms and check if audio is stable with such latency.

I turned off the Generic Driver. I checked the HW Latency and it was at 220. I changed that to 250. I did notice an improvement. I then tried changing the Latency to 275 and it seemed a little bit better. I then tried a Latency of 300, but that didn't seem any better than 275. I was thinking of trying to go back to the Generic Driver and leaving the Latency at 275 and see what happens. I'll report back with the results.

My latest try was with a HW Latency of 275 and using the Generic Driver. It's almost there, but not quite. I used to get 2-3 dropouts per song, now I'm down to 2-3 per cd. Much better than it used to be, but not quite perfect yet. Are there any other settings changes I could try that may get rid of these last few dropouts? Thank you again for the suggestions so far.
